Harlech-beach is a four mile stretch of sandy beach, backed by sand dunes and with views towards the mountains of Snowdonia and the Llyn Peninusula. The beach is easily accessible, clean and dog friendly. There are a number of ways to get to Harlech-beach from the house. We have outlined the driving route and 2 walking routes. 

Driving (5 minutes driving + 10 minute walk)

1. Proceed down Twtil to the bottom of the hill at the main road
2. Turn right along Morfa Road, across the railway crossing and take the first road on the left
3. Follow the road past Morfa Stores to its end, where there is an ample parking area with toilet facilities
4. The route to the beach is clearly marked: pass through a gate and follow the footpath across the golf course, passing a large wooden throne with views back to Harlech Castle, through the sand dunes and onto the beach 10 – 15 minutes
5. There is a large red post with a life belt marking this main entrance / exit
6. Note: You can stop at Morfa Stores for buckets and spades, frisbees and other supplies

Walking

Route 1 - The quickest way (total time 1 hour):

1. Leave the house and proceed down the hill to the first bend;
2. At the bend, on the left-hand side there is a gap in the wall leading to a flight of steps;
3. Follow the steps down until you come to the main road (5 min);
4. Cross the main road and pass through a gate leading to the railway line;
5. Another gate allows you to cross the railway line (beware of trains);
6. Follow the path straight ahead past Royal St Davids Golf club house and the first Tee and continue until you come to the edge of the 13^th fairway (5 min)
7. Look right before crossing the fairway to ensure no golf is in play and continue to follow the path into the sand dunes. It is time to let your dog off the lead and run free!;
8. Continue through the sand dunes following a well-defined path. After a further 5 – 10 minutes you will cross over the dunes and down onto the beach;
9. Return via the same route or turn right along the beach until you come to a large red post with a life belt marking the main entrance / exit to the beach and pathway back to the car park.
